to those who trumpted the whole "it's free" rubbish as if that excuses shortcomings:free is not an excuse for lack of features or usability. i and anyone who uses an application has every right to expect a certain level of ease of use or functionality given that the author of the program undertook the endeavor in the first place. in short, get a grip and stop being apologists.now that this point is crystal clear and the "free so don't complain" nonsense thoroughly debunked and consigned to the dung heap where it belongs, audacity is a very competent beginners audio editor. i would appreciate the versatility of goldwave's mixing and cue functions and expect to see the program evolve more towards them in the future just for the sake of ease of use.i'd give it a four and a recommendation as an excellent work in progress.

new features:static linking of drm (desktop only)** note: static linking of drm contributes to the increase in size of the flash player binary.

best file archiver!have used this for several years now. best archiver in my opinion, since it uses components from many other open source projects, e.g. 7-zip and freearc. it handles all formats i need, plus the obsolete .rar format.there's a "plain" version available for download on sourceforge.net without the bundled crapware.

not so good media player.user interface is messy - i can't find anything there.it plays media files ok, but it could not play ac3 audio track in mkv file (ac3 addon was installed). it could be windows 8 problem, but if media player classic home cinema (mpc-hc) plays it fine - i prefer to stay with it.

i have this installed on several machines now, and it is working fine. i haven't seen any slowdown's on connecting, at least once i edited up and saved a profile for the connect. i'd like to use the authentication, but i think that's got to wait for vista, or perhaps it's in server 2003? neither of which i'm running.mjm: have you gotten the 32bit color to work? this is the feature i'm most interested in, as i have an application i want to serve from one machine, to the machine i'm remoting from, which requires 32bit color, but i can't get it to work. the video card is an older nvidia one (5x series), and i'm wondering if that's part of the problem, or if there is any way to force 32bit.i have updated both machines with v6, and it still drops back to 16 bit. could it be a problem with the 1600x1280 screen size?i'm at a loss.

great.. this is my first clock i was sold on the features. though the weather feature isn't as accurate as is with weather programs. finally a clock i can see from the other side of the room.programs, like weather mate, weather pulse, and etc., all update every 5 minutes and less. this only updates every 30 minutes or hour.out side of that it's a splendid program.

really nice! just installed and tried it. i have been using dopdf for about a year now, but have always had problem when i tried converting the output from one particular software. that software uses arabic and english and hence dopdf always ended up outputing garbage ... even with the new font embedding feature.this one worked just perfectly!thanks to the author for giving it for free :)
